Sidewalk woe

Sidewalk woe
Originally uploaded by urn
Last Sunday at about noonish, we heard some loud noise on the street. Some random looking guy was cutting the sidewalk in front of our building. We couldn't see a truck or any other supporting workers, just this guy with a concrete saw and a cloud of dust around him. I didn't have any problem with the time or day, the noise wasn't concerning... I just didn't know why this guy was attacking our sidewalk.

I walked down and asked him what he was up to, and another guy materialized out of nowhere and talked to me, explaining to me that a sewer line needed repairing. That was enough for me, and we went about our day. The men brought out more equipment as their work progressed, and at one point they had a small backhoe and a dump truck.

Um, but they forgot to finish. It's been nearly a week, and we're still walking on freshly turned dirt. I'm happy the poo is flowing freely again, but what about the foot traffic?

Why would there be foot traffic in the sewer? Are there rats?

Inquiring minds want to know...has this situation been rectified yet? ;)

Almost 2 weeks later, I'm still walking on dirt.
